Faculty Association membership

  • Every lecturer, researcher, member of staff, and master’s or doctoral student at the University of Tartu has the right to become a member of the Tartu University Faculty Association.
  • A member of the Tartu University Faculty Association may become a senior member of the Faculty Association upon retirement, or upon termination of their employment contract.
  • A member of the Tartu University Faculty Association whose employment at the University of Tartu has been terminated (without fault) may remain a member of the Faculty Association until their subsequent employment.
  • A member of the Tartu University Faculty Association whose employment at the University of Tartu has been terminated is generally considered to have left the Faculty Association. An application must be submitted in order to retain the membership.

A member of the Tartu University Faculty Association has the right to:

  • Saada ametiühingult õigusabi küsimustes, mis on seotud töösuhete, ajutise- või alalise töövõimetuse, täiendkoolituse või kvalifikatsiooni tõstmise, sotsiaalsete tagatiste, pensionile või töötuks jäämisega.
  • Võtta osa ametiühingu tegevusest ja tema poolt korraldatavatest üritustest (sh koolitustest).
  • Saada informatsiooni ametiühingu tööst, vastuvõetud otsustest, tegevuskavast.
  • Võtta sõnaõigusega osa ametiühingu juhatuse tööst (sh külastada juhatuse koosolekuid).
  • Valida ja olla valitud ametiühingu tööorganitesse.
  • Esitada ametiühingu mistahes organile arvamusi ja ettepanekuid ja pärida neilt aru.
  • Avaldada ametiühingu väljaannetes oma seisukohti.

Each member of the Tartu University Faculty Association is required to:

  • Pay a monthly membership fee equivalent to 1% of their gross income; or
  • Pay 1% of the minimum wage (5€ a year) annually if they are a senior member; or
  • Pay 15€ annually if they are a master’s or a doctoral student.

Leaving the Tartu University Faculty Association and the exclusion of members

  • In order to leave the Tartu University Faculty Association, a member must submit the relevant application to the governing board.
  • The governing board of the Tartu University Faculty Association has the right to exclude a member if the obligations listed in § 10 of the Statute of the Tartu University Faculty Association have not been followed.
  • An individual who is at fault in relation to the termination of their employment contract at the University of Tartu automatically loses their membership of the Tartu University Faculty Association.
