In January of this year, the university harmonized the temporary scheme for compensation for sick days adopted by the Riigikogu with its internal rules of procedure and the collective agreement. The temporary national scheme was in place until 30 April. However on May 4, the UT Rectorate decided to continue paying sickness benefits on the basis of the principles in force from the beginning of the year until the end of 2021. An important note here for the staff whose pay (including all benefits) is linked to any research project is that the first day is considered an ineligible cost for which another source of funding than a scientific project has to be found.
