„Ülikoolides on sügavad probleemid, lisaks oleme saatnud ministeeriumitele mitu pöördumist, ent lahendusi pole näha,” tõdes Tartu ülikooli ametiühingu esimees Ruth Tammeorg. Tema abiga valmis avalikkusele mõeldud pöördumine (Eesti hariduslepe), kus loeti ette mured, mis on kõrgkoolidel ja teadusel juba aastaid olnud.

Akadeemiliste töötaja suurim mure tööturul on pöördumise väitel suur projektidest sõltumine. See tähendab, et palk tuleb eri projektide eelarvest, mitte otse riigi rahakotist. Alarahastatud kõrgharidus ainult süvendab probleemi.

The paragraph from the article below raises the question of whether universities really do not understand how the complete dependence on projects has deprived most researchers of all kinds of job and salary stability:

Isegi kui mõni kõrgkool maksab põhipalka, ei tohi siht olla miinimumi maksmine. Tartu ülikooli teadusprorektor Kristjan Vassil märkis, et nende koolis on kõigil akadeemilistel töötajatel püsiv põhipalk, mis on seotud palgaastmestiku miinimumpalgaga. „Kuid need miinimumid peaksid olema kõrgemad. Pole sisulist vahet, kas akadeemilistele töötajatele makstakse miinimumpalka püsirahastusest või konkurentsipõhisest rahastusest, igal juhul pole see piisav. Miinimumpalk ei peaks olema meie eesmärk.”

Eesti Päevaleht also writes in connection with the draft State Budget Act (RES) of 2022: “However, the share of funding for higher education in GDP is expected to decrease by 0.02% in 2022. This means that if it was financed at 0.56% this year, it will be financed at 0.54% of GDP next year. " Hence the question of whether lecturers and researchers are willing to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with actions and gather behind the unions of the sector that do not agree with the RES in its current form!
